Big Rock is a gorgeous Malibu neighborhood named for the beach along its coastline: Big Rock Beach. Things to Do in Big Rock
Close enough to walk or ride a bike, Moonshadows Malibu is the perfect place to enjoy dinner on the beach any time. The New American menu features hand-crafted cocktails, fresh seafood, and perfectly prepared steak, all with panoramic ocean views from the light-filled dining room. For Hawaiian food in a festive beachfront bar, stop by Duke’s Malibu. Tiki drinks, ocean views, hula pie, and some of the best seafood you’ve ever had make this the perfect place to eat out in Malibu.
Behind the homes in Big Rock lies beautiful Tuna Canyon Park, featuring Tuna Canyon Trailhead for a challenging hike while enjoying ocean breezes. Because the canyon borders much of the neighborhood, residents can expect protection from development that will change the atmosphere of Big Rock. The protected natural space provides a beautiful border.
To enjoy the beach, head to Big Rock or Las Tunas Beach. Big Rock Beach is a beautiful place to take a walk along the water, but is not suited to surfing and swimming. At Las Tunas Beach just a few minutes away, you will find space to set up for the day, sunbathing and playing in the water.
Schools in Big Rock
Families in Big Rock can attend the excellent public schools in Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. These well funded schools are known for student success and are some of the best in the state. Remember, Malibu operates like a small town in many ways, with just three schools in the city limits: Malibu Elementary School, Webster Elementary and Malibu High School.

Big Rock Real Estate
Big Rock is filled with large luxury homes featuring beautiful ocean views. Much like all of Malibu, you will find a variety of architectural styles in this multi million dollar homes, many featuring massive windows to maximize the breathtaking panoramic views. There are no condos or townhomes in this community, and no buildable lots, though some people choose to purchase a Big Rock property for its views and entirely redesign the house located on it.
