Welcome to Brentwood

Brentwood is located on the west side of Los Angeles south of Interstate 405 and north of Santa Monica. Nestled at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains Brentwood is its own suburban neighborhood within LA County. It got its start back in the 1880s as a small community outside of the Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors taking on the name Westgate. It was annexed by the city of Los Angeles in 1916 and Westgate’s 49 mi.² included large parts of what is now the Pacific Palisades area.

Brentwood is one of Los Angeles’s most glamorous neighborhoods featuring posh neighborhoods, world-class museums, attractions, and high-end housing. It offers unique upscale shops, large office buildings, and outdoor entertainment and is considered one of the area’s best-kept secrets. However, celebrities and high-profile residents certainly know quite a bit about this area.

Home to famous celebrities like Joan Crawford, Steve McQueen, Bea Arthur, and Marilyn Monroe, this laid-back atmosphere of Brentwood is unlike any other community in the Los Angeles area. Most celebrities moved in around the 1990s but it has always been an affluent, quiet, and quaint neighborhood where celebrities can relax and enjoy their privacy. It’s also considered one of the safest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Crime is 44% lower in Brentwood than in LA County on average and it boasts one of the lowest population densities in the city.

Brett One is considered the #6 best neighborhood to raise a family in Los Angeles and it offers an urban/suburban mix and field for most residents actually rent their own homes. However, that figure is about 50-50. The median home value is $1.5 million with a median rent of $2300 per month.

What do locals say about living in Brentwood?

“I have been living here for a while now to review it. It is a very calm and relaxed neighborhood with tons of restaurants and small cafes where you can get your coffee and enjoy the sun on a weekend day. It is very close to the water, about three miles, that you can reach with a 20 minutes bike ride down San Vicente Boulevard or a 10 minutes car drive. “

“Safe, walkable, and fun neighborhood. Great bars and restaurants close by, friendly people, and overall a wonderful place to live” – Reviews

Brentwood Real Estate

The reason the density here is not as great as other communities are that most homes are spaced out. Many properties have 1 acre or more so this leaves a lot of room for urban living. There are approximately 50 to 60 homes or properties for sale at any given time in Brentwood ranging in price from $600,000 for one-bedroom or studio condominiums to some of the highest-priced homes in Los Angeles County, topping out at $65 million.
