6 Great Hiking Trails Near Beverly Hills

Temescal Canyon Gateway Park

Enjoy views of both the canyons and the Pacific Ocean along Temescal Canyon Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains. The 2.6-mile loop with an 860-foot elevation change is moderately challenging and beautiful enough to keep your focus off the challenging workout you're getting. If you want a longer hike, there are multiple extension trails along the way to increase the distance up to 4 miles. This trail is a dog-free hike, so leave your canine friends at home. Parking is available in the park for a fee, or you can park along Sunset Blvd for free.

Mandeville Canyon Fire Road

For a longer hike, visit Mandeville Canyon Fire Road, a 7.1-mile out-and-back trail. Most people spend about 3 hours completing the trail, which is popular with birdwatchers and mountain bikers. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the scenery is beautiful. Mandeville Canyon Fire Road ticks both boxes if you are looking for a challenging workout while enjoying the abundant California sunshine.

Beverly Gardens Park

While not your traditional hiking trail, Beverly Gardens Park is a 1.9-mile-long park with walking paths winding through art sculptures, a cactus garden, a rose garden, and fountains. Stop by the Lily Pond or the Beverly Hills Sign on your walk and enjoy the affluent, beautiful setting of Beverly Hills. The park underwent a full renovation in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2014 and is conveniently located just minutes from most of the notable Beverly Hills neighborhoods. The iconic location and scenic atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a quick stroll in the middle of the day.

Franklin Canyon Park

Located near Benedict Canyon, Franklin Canyon Park is a 605-acre public park featuring six beautiful walking and hiking trails. Most Franklin Canyon trails are easy, perfect for a peaceful stroll, a quick morning jog, or a scenic evening walk. There is one trail of moderate difficulty, which takes hikers an average of an hour and ten minutes to complete. If you like a change of scenery, we expect this park will quickly become your favorite, with multiple choices for a quick morning jog or hike, each featuring a different view.

Runyon Canyon Park

This 160-acre park is located at the east end of the Santa Monica Mountains. There are a variety of trails to choose from depending on what type of hike you are in the mood for, ranging from a leisurely 0.85-mile hike with 200 feet of elevation change to a more strenuous 3.3-mile hike to the top of the park with an 800-foot elevation change. Runyon Canyon Park is a local favorite and the site of many celebrity sightings, the perfect place to get in a quick sweat outside. Dogs are welcome in this pet-friendly park!

Wilacre Park

The Fryman Canyon Trail in Wilacre Park is a 2.6-mile loop near Studio City. It is a moderately challenging trail perfect for hiking, trail running, or mountain biking. Parts of the course are paved and are known to be busy when the weather is nice (almost always). To beat the crowds and find a spot in the small parking lot, plan to hike this trail for sunrise before the rest of LA joins you.
